One of the preserved texts in the archive is titled “I taste a liquor never brewed.” In this poem Dickinson uses being drunk and alcohol as metaphors to rave about the quality of nature. The poem has four stanzas and Dickinson makes use of diction and imagery to paint a vivid picture of what she is talking about which connects with the audience. She uses words like “air” and “dew” which helps paint a picture of the setting of the poem. Throughout the poem she uses her intoxication with mother earth as a way to connect with the higher power. If I wanted to browse for manuscripts the search options are set to where you can only browse for her work by first lines, date, recipients, or edition and because many of Dickinson’s poems aren’t titled or popular it would be hard for me to find out all of her work at once. I also think since the manuscript images are separated by library collections it would be confusing to someone who isn’t looking for a specific work by Dickinson and wants something general. I think for the general public the website would be very ineffective but for their audience, scholars, the website would be of good use. The website is geared towards specificity therefore it would be a huge benefit to a scholar of her writings but may pose a problem to someone who is only interested in her general works. I think it does a great job in preserving texts and because of their affiliations and contributions the website comes off as credible. I think the website could improve if they made a list of some of her critically acclaimed and popular work to get the general public interested in her work then focus on specific editions of her work. I also think that the website has a very basic template and would improve if the colors they used were brighter and more attention grabbing.
