"Art is art, nature is nature, you cannot improve upon it . . . Pictures should be inspired by nature, but made in the soul of the artist; it is the soul of the individual that counts." (Collections). Emily Carr was a famous painter and writer, she was the only one original female painter of the first half twentieth century. Most canadians galleries have Emily Carr’s works, which are from her famous tour called “Emily Carr: New Perspectives on a Canadian Icon” (The Canadian Encyclopedia). Emily Carr was a great painter who had a big history and her own style.There are several points which can describe her life, work and legacy.

Emily Carr’s works are keeping in many Canadians museums, such as Art Gallery and Vancouver Art Gallery. Moreover, she was invited in many exhibitions which takes her paintings.” The exhibition features more than 40 historic indigenous artifacts from the Pacific Northwest Coast, including masks, baskets and ceremonial objects by Haida, Kwakwaka'wakw, Nuu-chah-nulth, Salish, Tsimshian and Tinglit makers.”(Collections).After first heart attack she stopped drawing, so Emily produced “six autobiographical books that were enlivened by satiric character studies (Britannica Academic).In addition, Carr become renovated and known among other artists to the present days . To conclude, this research helped to understand more about canadian culture, such as great artist Emily Carr. “Mad, bad, and dangerous to know is how Victorian society dismissed Emily Carr. Lewis DeSoto, a painter and novelist, sees Emily Carr as a woman in search of God, freedom, and the essence of art.”( DeSoto 14-15).For the next research I will focus on facts that can be more relevant and interesting for people who read.
