Emily Behnke has seen herself grow as a person through her choice to take a women in writing course. She says of the course, “everything we read was relevant to what women are currently experiencing and it really encouraged me to take risks and explore different areas within my own writing.” As she looks towards life after Manhattanville, she realizes that the experiences she has gained through internships and job opportunities as well as the relationships she has built with her professors have prepared her for what is to come. As a English Literature major with a Creative Writing minor, she hopes to pursue a career in writing but can also see herself teaching, sharing her love of literature and writing with her students
Samantha Biegel is a psychology major with a communications minor who sees her future job as helping others find their future career paths. Her dream jobs including obtaining a manager position in HR or becoming a career coach. Through her time at Manhattanville she has already begun helping others by being a first-year mentor and creating an internship in the Center for Career Development. Her internship allowed her to practice one-on-one peer counseling through resume writing and practicing for interviews. As a Duchesne Scholar and a Resident Leader for the Office of Residence Life she has immersed herself in the college campus throughout her time as a student. Upon graduation in May, she sees herself returning to Mount Vernon to teach either 7th or 9th grade history.
