On August fifteenth, 1945. Japan surrendered to the United States. Postwar in Japan, In the United States, the U.K., France, a lot of books about spirit of the Kamikaze special attack unit are published and got high evaluations after the WW2. However, there were some wrong pitiably point of view (trend) to recognized ‘Kamikaze-special attack units (kamikaze tokkotai)’ as victim of war which is likely says ‘Young officers who died reluctantly to save our country by the order of their senior officer who force unquestioning obedience’. This is truly disappointing thing. However, the spirit of suicide attack was never proportional with such kind of criticism. The each kamikaze practiced complete "self-denying" which imagination hardly pointed out from our common sense. This “self-denying” is what we call as selfless devotion which means that abandon your self-interest, and make the loyalty for your master, society and country by your honorable death. This patriotism by killing himself to protect our country sounds abnormal to some people today. However, this spirit had recognized as splendid and honor by our ancestors in a long time. For example, when samurai was about to killed by others, samurai asked them to cut off own belly (seppuku or hara kiri) rather than killed by someone. Mainly, I would like to give …show more content…
Durkheim got an idea of this type of suicide from the custom which chose death voluntarily by a reflection upon one’s honor or one becoming senile in primitive society.
