Albion State Normal School The Albion State Normal School is a supposedly haunted campus in Albion, Idaho. Also know as the Haunted Mansions of Albion, the Albion State Normal School is a haunted attraction only 24 minutes from the town of Burley, Idaho. The campus was established in 1893, but soon shut down due to insufficient funding in 1951 (Welch 1). After being reopened as different things, the campus was officially closed in 1969.…
The tedious amounts of work and the little amount of time to complete projects before their presentations. I am also reminded of the nightwalks, the twenty minute walk from my dorm to the building. In this room I associate the quiet deserted campus I went through at all hours of the night. Not only the long nights but the days as well the three hour class twice a week for an entire semester. Happiness would come when the time came to place my work in the room and explain what I had done for so many hours as everyone gazed at it with their own interpretations and…
During my sophomore year as an undergraduate at the University of South Carolina, I was accepted into the Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program. I do not exaggerate when I say that this program changed the entire course of my life: helping me to fully understand my interests, altering my professional goals, and providing me with a viable path for my passions. As a first generation student, I had very little knowledge about how to navigate the sphere of undergraduate education and in the same vein, I knew next to nothing about graduate school. Before McNair I was never aware of what graduate school could offer me and the program, and the people it connected me with, became my greatest source of support as I made the journey into pursuing my doctorate.…
How would one describe the normal student? Solely base it off of the student’s physical features and life styles, or the student’s political stand point? In a class survey, the results showed that a normal student in an English 1102 class at Valdosta State University is a first year student between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one that lives in Georgia and believes college is very important. The surveys were split up into three or so categories. One being the Student’s Lifestyle, the second is all about College, Demographics, and Technology, and lastly, it was about Politics and Sex, Dating, and Relationships.…

There is a moment for everyone where they realize their goals and aspirations. Once they do, nothing will stop that person from achieving their goals. For me, my whole life has led up to me pursuing a filmmaking career, and nothing is going to stop me. Film is one of many influences that made me the man I am today. In my pursuit to becoming a filmmaker, I have been blessed with friends that shared similar interest in filmmaking, opportunities to work on independent film productions as well as other short film documentaries, and motivations to be a smarter and better person.…
Self-Reflection Profile Essay The following self-reflection profile essay highlights my professional and academic experiences as it relates to Gladwell’s 10,000 hour rule. Gladwell presents research from neurologist Daniel Levitin that explains “that ten thousand hours of practice is required to achieve the level of mastery associated with being a world-class expert-in anything” (Gladwell, 2008, pg. 39). Gladwell states that “outliers in a particular field reached their lofty status through a combination of ability, opportunity, and utterly arbitrary advantage” (Gladwell, 2008, pg. 37). I generally agree with Gladwell’s theory and will share many examples in my life that support his theory.…
Prepare for an interesting story. The story of my life, Theodore Geisel. I am very honored and excited to tell you the story of my life. You all may know me as Dr.Seuss, the guy who wrote “ The Cat in the Hat” & “ The Grinch Who Stole Christmas”. Everybody know’s about Dr.Seuss but many don’t know about the person before Dr.Seuss, before there was Dr.Seuss there was Theodore Geisel.…
I first became interested in applying to NYU after watching the films that Charlie Kaufman had written as well as directed. I looked Kaufman up, in order to learn more about his career as well as his background. When I found out that he had attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, I researched Tisch and discovered all of the other incredible men and women that have walked through its doors, and moulded film into what it is today. I wanted to learn from the minds that taught Martin Scorsese, or Phillip Seymour Hoffman. I longed to be in an environment so stimulating, that inspiration blooms in every corner, rooftop, and person all around me.…
To begin with, I decided that I was going to make a short film based on the end of The Great Gatsby. I listed what I knew and what I didn’t know about filming and iMovie, and since I took digital video last year I had some experience but I can always learn more. I looked over some past movies and scripts that I made and wondered how I could make it better and expanded upon that by researching different filming techniques like the thirds rule, wide and narrow shots, etc.. I was also interested in the general idea of film in the jazz age, and decided to research more into that. Since filming and editing, while similar, are both very important in their own…
If you can’t see yourself in any other career than one in movies or television, then a film degree in Dallas, TX is a must-have. Certainly not everyone who works in motion pictures, television or other types of broadcasting has a degree or classroom instruction; but with the amount of money that is involved and the speed that’s necessary in producing movies and television shows, someone with knowledge and hands-on experience will find employment more easily than someone who expects to learn “on the job.” Need more reasons to pursue a film degree? You’ll Learn About Every Aspect Of Filmmaking If you walk onto a film set without an education or a long resume, you might land a minor job in one specialty like lighting, makeup or sound; but…

As I progressed along this course, my knowledge and understanding of the task of reading and writing has broadened immensely. Truthfully, until now I never comprehended or grasped the vital components to lead a successful career in writing and reading. Initially, I never even had a theory for writing and reading. I looked upon it as just another obstacle I must overcome to achieve success. I failed to ever recognize the correlation between success and certain tendencies students have.…
I never wanted to be a fireman or a police man. The first career I wanted was to be a furniture designer. (When I was 8 I built a very ugly stool out of some scrap wood my dad let me use.) Then, when I was like 10, I wanted to be an architect. Then I wanted to be a doctor.…
I decided to do an exchange program at UCLA over one summer to study film directing, I did my best to learn and absorb things as deeply as I can. There are two big lessons I picked up from this trip, one is to trust my instincts, which was drilled into my mind by our professor, he told us to “ Hold tight to your passions, Keep your dream because without it there are no dreams in this world!” These words struck a cord with me, prompting me to take pride in my dreams and work hard to make sure it comes true. College became my platform to achieve my dream.…
