Working in the Emergency room gives me the opportunity to talk to my patients about their medications. It is amazing to me how many people are om antidepressant medications and medications for anxiety. Anxiety is such a scary thing for so many people. The symptoms can actually mimic a heart attack. People will seek medical treatment for chest pain, shortness of breath and an all-around “shaky feeling”. They will be sweaty and tell you they feel like passing out. People actually think they are having a heart attack, but instead are having an anxiety attack.
