Humans are inherently social animals. From his primordial beginnings all the way to his meteoric rise to the modern age, man has always been accompanied by his fellow man. It is of no surprise, then, that the advancements and innovations of science and technology has allowed him to become more connected to the world around him than ever before, all without having to leave the comfort of his own home. Such advancements have allowed humanity to keep in contact with family and friends, place themselves into dangerous situations without ever being physically present, and has allowed for information and media to be easily shared. Additionally, these innovations have allowed individuals to make the impossible, possible; emergency contact can be made with relatives hours within an accident, and business meetings can take place while waiting in line for coffee. No longer does a person have to "be there" physically to make an impact. In terms of "high risk scenarios," advancements in the robotics sector have completely removed the human element from the equation. A bomb technician no longer has to place life and limb on the line to thwart terrorism; he can use a specialized robot as a medium. A pilot no longer has to worry about enemy ground fire or interceptors in a combat zone; a drone operator 3500 miles away can easily execute the mission, without any risk to themselves or their allies. The complete and utter detachment of the human element from the equation has, in turn, made the dream of instantaneous communication and global connectivity a very real reality. A mere five decades ago, one had to constantly make an effort to "stay in the loop" with current events and contemporary issues.
