Chapter 1

Iris sat on the edge of her pool, dipping her legs in and out of the cool water. Next to her sat her closest friend, Taylor, they had been best friends since Iris had first moved to the rich community of Emerald Cove three short years ago. The girls sat in perfect silence on the edge of the pool on that warm, Saturday afternoon. Prom was in a few weeks so they decided it would be best to get started on getting the absolute perfect tan. Soon the perfect silence was disrupted.

Before Iris moved to Emerald Cove her life was miserable. She was slightly overweight and had a horrible case of acne and she was a bit of a nerd, so of course kids in her 8th grade class teased her. Iris rolled her eyes.

“Don’t be so dramatic..” She said cold heartedly. Then Chad came, it looked as if he was walking towards Iris but instead he went to Charlotte.

“Hey, is everything alright?” He said in a soothing voice, Iris couldn’t believe it. This had to be a nightmare. There is no way Chad was comforting Charlotte, they never even hung out. They were just chemistry partners. Charlotte looked and him and shook her head, he then hugged Charlotte.

“Your cold hearted..” Chad said, mumbling some other things, he then walked away, Charlotte still holding on to him. He didn’t see the small smirk on Charlotte’s face, but Iris did.

“She’s such a faker! Come on guys, let's go.” Iris said, she then began to walk and Taylor slowly followed, Jacqueline and Piper didn’t budge. Iris whipped around and glared at the two
