What are stem cells? Stem cells are the body's raw materials. Cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are generated they are also called daughter cells. They either become new stem cells or become specialized cells with a more specific function, such as blood cells, brain cells, heart muscle or bone. Embryonic stem cells come from embryos that are three to five days old. At this stage, an embryo is called a blastocyst and has about 150 cells. They can divide into more stem cells or can become any type of cell in the body. It has been discovered that proteins are these transcriptions, they work together in complex ways to reprogram the DNA strand in stem cells. The word has many expectations that stem cell research may one day restructure modern medicine. Stem cells have …show more content…
After a spinal cord injury there is an increase production of a protein that blocks regeneration of nerve cells that carry signals along the spinal cord and prevents the injured tissue from healing. In the past, the obsession with embryonic stem cells has led to some questionable claims about their abilities to treat diabetes. Their ability to make authentic insulin, in quantities that would be useful, were first trumpeted and then shown to be incorrect and even artifactual. Diabetes, or fully named Diabetes Mellitus is when a person has high blood sugar and that is cause by the lack of insulin produced by the pancreas or it is when the cells do not respond to the insulin produced, it is also according to the type of diabetes that the cause may be different from others. Stem cells are cells that are special unlike any other cell. Stem cells have the ability to change to any cell in the body in the early life or growth of a stem cells which will help cells respond better to insulin. Many view the issue of stem cell research and stem cell therapy as morally wrong and a crime against humanity, others view the study of stem cells as the next
