Such research creates some concerns for the public. The article Pro-Life News in Brief describes the process of this type of research, stating that “embryonic cells are harvested by killing developing human beings” (“Pro-Life News in Brief” 1), and this implies how embryonic stem cell research causes harm to embryos. This article then compares the process of embryonic stem cell research to that of adult stem cell research. It was stated that “adult cells are extracted without harming the donor.” (“Pro-Life News in Brief” 1). By comparing the process of embryonic stem cell research to that of adult stem cell research, it is shown that adult stem cell research is considered more right than embryonic stem cell research because adult stem cell research doesn’t cause harm to embryos, as compared to embryonic stem cell research. The fact that adult stem cell research doesn’t cause harm to embryos is reason enough for the majority of the public to support adult stem cell research, rather than embryonic stem cell research. Additionally, William Saunders states that “...the production of human beings for the sake of experimentation, research, or the harvesting of organs is morally wrong. Human beings are not disposable biological material.” (Saunders 2). By stating that human beings are not disposable biological material, it is emphasized that embryos are not to be …show more content…
Pope John Paul stated some moral laws regarding human life. He has stated that “Such moral laws include the following: First, a child has a right to be respected as a person from the moment of conception until natural death. Second, a child has the right to be the fruit of the conjugal love of his parents, who are united in marriage. Third, a child has a right to be born.” (Saunders 2). From this, it is shown that embryos have the right to see the world and experience life in the future. Moreover, embryos have the right to develop into human beings, according to Insoo Hyun. Because the right to life is essential to all embryos, it can be seen that embryos should be able to experience individual freedoms that humans have. If embryos are destroyed, then embryos wouldn’t be able to experience individual freedoms that humans
