After taking presidency, Barack Obama lifted the research ban on March 2, 2009. When viewed like this, using stem cells for research is equivalent to murder. The chapter also presents another issue that relates to this case presentation regarding funding by the federal government. If someone believes that something is unethical and morally unacceptable, should their tax dollars be used to fund it? The final major objection to stem cell research that was presented in Chapter 6 said that an embryo would grow into an autonomous human being in the future.
