I’ll never forget the moments of watching all my friends being able to go to the playground and enjoy themselves as I would have to walk to a different classroom to my ESOL class. ESOL was an English practicing class, it allowed for students that knew very few English and was a method for us to learn and practice our English. Towards the end of the class as we all headed back from recess, or in my case from ESOL I would have a short time to speak and talk to my friends, and they would always ask about my whereabouts. I would try to explain to them exactly where I was and what I would be doing, and I knew that they did not fully comprehend me, yet I still tried. I would attend my ESOL class all throughout the third grade, by the beginning of…

On September 30, 2015, me and five of my other fellow students that are in the generic nursing program at CUNY York college, were given the opportunity to do a presentation at Selfhelp center located in Bayside, New York. We arrived at Selfhelp at 8:45am with our Health Assessment Professor Dr. Amicucci accompanying us and began our presentation around 9:00am, on hypertension. I remember that a total of 15 people showed interest in attending our presentation and wanted to learn new information regarding hypertension. When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.”…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…
