On May 13, 1955, his fans started to riot after his show at the New Baseball Park in Jacksonville, Florida. He had made a joke to the girls in the audience that they could meet him backstage, which most of them did and tried to pry his clothing and skin off. Elvis hadn’t become international but he was still on the rise because both of his 1955 records hit the country charts hard. During his wake, a handful of established and a dozen of new country artists decided to give rock and roll a chance. In 1957, Elvis had concerts set in Hawaii but he did not use plane travel. Was this because of fear, airsickness, fans? He took a boat on a four-and-a-half-day journey and arriving on November 9. The next day, he performed twice-at 3:00 and 8:15- at the Honolulu Stadium and almost 15,000 islanders attended the two concerts.
