He is one of the most well-known playwrights and is openly quoted quite often. His work teaches many lessons that are very beneficial to society. These are wise words to live by. He is saying that we are all a part of the great performance that is life. We all have moments where something big is happening and we are needed by others around us, but there are also moments when everything is going smoothly and we are not in the spotlight. Everyone also plays a myriad of parts in their lifetime. We need to determine which "role" we are at certain times in order to set ourselves up for success. For example, if a person were going to go into a job interview the would not being playing the role of "unexperienced teenager", but they would be playing the role of "possible employee."
