Elvis Presley born on January 8, 1935 at 4:35am (Watson 14). Elvis Presley gave birth to rock and roll (Watson 10). Growing up Elvis’s parent did not have a lot of money. American singer Elvis Presley exploded onto the music scene in the mid-19502 (Elvis). But on August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley died but died a hero.
To truly understand Elvis Presley, one must understand his early life. Presley was born on January 8, 1935, at, 4:435, in Tupelo, Mississippi (Watson 14). Elvis was the child of Vernon and Gladys Presley (Watson 12). Presley’s parents were so poor when they married in 1933 the 17-year-old Vernon had to borrow the three dollars needed to buy a marriage license (Watson 12). Elvis starred in more than 30 successful movies (Watson 11). The year he graduated, however, the young hopeful also made an amateur recording at the Memphis Recording Studio (Elvis). With a musical career in the offing, the future star quit his truck-driving job in 1954 and began performing professionally (Elvis). Though reportedly shy and disinclined to be interviewed, the upstart musician gave performances that drove audiences mad. His smoldering good looks and captivating smile, coupled with the pelvic "bump-and-grind" rhythm that earned him the name Elvis the Pelvis (Elvis). Elvis was already a legend by the time he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1958, and during his two-year hitch, most of it spent in West Germany, his recordings continued to sell well (Elvis). Admired as one of the most successful recording artist and performers of all time (Elvis). American singer Elvis Presley exploded onto the music scene in the mid-19502 (Elvis).
