Elvis Presley, the King of Rock, died on August 16, 1977. That was 38 years ago, but did Elvis really die? It has always been rumored that Elvis was actually still alive, and he faked his death in order to get away from the life he was living as a rock and roll superstar. He just wanted to live a normal life as an “unknown.” In October of 2015 a story was shared that would justify that theory. An 80 year old homeless man was found deceased under an overpass. No one really knew the man’s name, however his friends called him Jessie. Jessie’s DNA was tested in a nationwide database and the results were an exact match to the king, Elvis Aaron Presley. The story was spreading really quickly, which appeared to confirm the rumors that Elvis had really been alive this whole time. When researching the article on Google there are plenty of different sources with multiple stories that are all basically saying the same thing. There is no way you can trace this urban legend to an original source. People today believe everything that they see on the Internet or Facebook, which is how it spread around so fast. The story of the body being found that had the same DNA as Elvis Presley is cautionary because the writer is trying to convince people that he was really alive these last thirty-eight years. If this were to be true, I don’t believe Elvis would’ve lived as a homeless person. His goal was to live a normal life. He was tired of life as a celebrity where everything he did in his professional and personal life was either caught on camera or written about in the writers’ version, which was not necessarily true. I don’t believe Elvis would have hidden basically his whole life from his family, especially from his daughter, Lisa Marie whom he adored.
