Elvis Aaron Presley, the famous Rock "n" Roll singer, died yesterday August 16, 1977 in Memphis, Tennessee he was 42 years old. He was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi to parents Gladys and Vernon Presley. He had a twin brother Jesse Garon who died shortly after birth. He was raised in a poor, religious household where he grew very close to his mother. He started singing in the church choir at a young age. He received his first guitar at the age of twelve and taught himself how to play. His family moved to Memphis and he graduated from Humes High School in 1953. Less than a year after graduating, Elvis made his first record for Sun Records called "That's All Right Mama" which sold 20,000 copies
