Drums are musical instruments that give a sense of happiness and a sense of enjoyment. I have wanted to play drums since I was around 6 years old. I first saw them played on TV. I then found a greater interest when I saw them being played in church. I liked the base drum the most because of the big deep sound it has. People can use music as speech by expressing what they feel through sound. Elvin Jones is a Black American drummer who express himself through jazz.
Elvin Ray Jones was born on September 9, 1927 in Pontiac, Michigan and passed away on May 18, 2004 in Englewood, New Jersey at the age of 76. When Elvin was a child he was exposed to gospel, blues, and jazz through both his parents and older siblings, and his musical talents became evident at a very young age. Elvin start drumming in his teenage years. He then went to the United States Army in 1946 and returned home poor . After he returned home form the Army he asked his sister for 35 dollars. The experimental music era is a label for any music that pushes against existing boundaries and genre definitions. The experimental era is dated from 1950 to present time. I believe Jones was trying to make his own style by being different from everyone else.
Mr. Jones range is from low to high. Mr. Jones articulation is very solid and soft. Also I would say his style of jazz is a very medium fast pace goes on in off. Mr. Jones tonality is compared to the subak drum. A major key for Mr. Jones is c note. Mr. Jones instrumental is normally combined with a saxophone, piano, bassist, and soprano in his jazz band. Mr. Jones phrasing sometimes had a message to it, for EXAMPLE, love, happiness, calm, and a sense of relaxation. This probably means Mr. Jones was a once in a lifetime jazz
