He is a part of many large companies such as Neuralink, The Boring Company, Tesla Motors, PayPal, Space Explorations (SpaceX), and more. One way that costs can be reduced is by changing tunnel diameters by placing vehicles on electric car skates, which can reduce the cost by 3-4 times (“FAQ”). The second way to reduce the costs of building tunnels is to increase the speed of the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) which helps build tunnels by increasing its power, supporting continuous tunneling, automating TBMs for safety and efficiency, using electric vehicles, and investing in tunnel development (“FAQ”). Building tunnels would indeed come with many benefits. For example, there is no limit to the number of layers that can be built and tunnels are weatherproof. Also, construction is silent to anyone on the natural ground. Musk has already started this project with a company he calls the Boring Company. Currently, he is digging a tunnel from the SpaceX parking lot in California, which he owns, because no permit is needed to do so. Eventually, he hopes to reach the Los Angeles International Airport. The state of Maryland also gave permission to begin a test tunnel this
