However, being a member of the business academy at Bergen County Academies teaches one more than how to generate profit; the experience opens your eyes to another way of interpreting the world. In sophomore year, I had the honor of competing with several other ABF students in Euro Challenge, a national competition where students formulate monetary policy recommendations based on the economic state of a nation in the Euro Area. Before Euro Challenge, my education in business mostly centered on memorizing various marketing terms and financial ratios. Over the past two years, I have participated in numerous extracurricular activities, from which I gained interpersonal skills, honed my public speaking abilities, and developed strong leadership qualities. However, one thing that I have gained from my leadership experiences is my unique approach to teamwork. I have a great deal of leadership experience from being a board member of two clubs, a part of the BCA Model UN Travel Team, and a student leader at my church. As mentioned before, I not only have experience in managing complex projects, but I am also well versed in how to facilitate a productive team dynamic. In every task that I am given, I constantly look for ways to challenge the status quo and improve upon past efforts, a characteristic that I developed while participating in Model UN. My leadership experiences are one of the most important aspects of my life because being able to contribute to a meaningful cause, as I did with Operation Smile and Wounded Warrior Project, is extraordinarily empowering and essential for character development. Additionally, my leadership experiences were ways of giving back to the community that nurtured me. Participating in Model UN and being a student leader at my church helped me to develop a sense of pride in my own voice, which is something that I hope to impart to others in my community. Cultivating tomorrow’s leaders begins with developing confidence in oneself, which I would always strive towards as a member of the National Honor

Numerous studies have shown that a healthy workplace environment improves quality care to patients, and increases the productivity of an institution (Registered Nurses Association of Ontario [RNAO], 2013). This can be achieved through an effective interprofessional collaboration and teamwork among health care providers (RNAO, 2013). In the current healthcare setting, multiple professionals collaborate to provide an exceptional patient-centred care. Goal #3: Learn how to be more decisive in decision-making situations As a people pleaser, I have difficulty making decisions because I want to make sure everyone’s opinions and ideas are valued. However, this often leads to internal conflict because I take too long to make decisions, out of fear that I am making the wrong decision, hurting other peoples’ feelings or being overly assertive. I find that I seek approval from others in order to validate my opinions in decision-making situations. Being more decisive will help me become a more confident and purpose-driven leader, which will demonstrate to my team members that I can lead them and that they can trust the choices I make. I will know that I have achieved this goal when others recognize my promptness in making decisions.…
