Elle s'appelait Sarah is a novel written by french novelist Tatiana de Rosnay. Elle s'appelait Sarah was published in 2006 and it is about a girl named Sarah Starzynski who is 11 year old jewish girl in the novel. She lives in Paris but on july 16,1942 something happened which was vanished away from the records of France. 13,000 jews were abducted by french police and intially sent to velodrome d'hiver stadium and marked with yellow symbol juif (which is jews in french) on their clothes. Sarah is the main protagonist in the novel. she is a cute 11 year old girl who lives with her family that includes her parents and her little brother Michel Starzynski. on 16 th July 1942, police raided Sarah's apartment to ake her family to the camps. in order to protect her younger brother, she locks him inside the closet with enough water to survive for few hours and takes the key along hoping that she will come back soon in few hours after roundup. the starzynski family is taken to velodrome d'hiver where they are worried about Michele locked inside the closet. The family is in ruins and are worried about Michele. During the roundup her father gets seprated from her mother and herself. after 2 days, she is seprated from her mother. both of her parents are sent Auschwitz camp and she still carries a key with her. She wants to save her brother Michel. After her mother is seprated she falls ill in the camp and gets up after 2 days. It's been 4 days since michel is locked and soon she meets Rachel.
