In fact, there are the fears that those who turn toward the use of advanced technology will fail to use it successfully and thereby diminish student’s learning. As seen in a chapter in Ellen Rose’s book On Reflection: An Essay on Technology, Education, and the Status of Thought in the Twenty-First Century, the author asks readers to consider the merits of deep, slow, and uninterrupted reflection. Rose posits that we have become victim to our own competences and approaches of communication. Rose states that, “rather than enhancing our capabilities and opportunities for reflection, information technology seems to have become one of the greatest obstacles to deep thought” (Rose, 2013, p. 84).
