“I think we need more love in the world. We need more kindness, more compassion, more joy, more laughter. I definitely want to contribute to that.” Ellen Degeneres is a very influential person in our world today because she is compassionate, caring and generous; a gifted comedian, author and hostess; and is a strong supporter of equality in America.

Ellen Degeneres has spent many years using her time and talents doing comedy and sharing her generosity. One of the big ways Ellen shares her love and generosity is on her famous TV show called “Ellen” which airs every weekday. Ellen does many things on her show that show her generosity. For an example, she provides 12 days of giveaways at Christmas time and gives her audience members gifts and experiences. In addition, Ellen enjoys helping underprivileged schools and recognizing people she feels are making a difference in the world. She also sets up interactions with famous people to give inspiration to people going through a rough time. Ellen is one of the most compassionate, caring and generous celebrities on TV today.

Ellen’s first TV show was called These Friends of Mine and aired from 1994-1998. After this sitcom, Ellen had some difficulties finding acting jobs and decided to host her own show in 2003, calling it “The Ellen Degeneres Show”. This show is in its 13th year and is a top hit! Ellen has won Daytime Emmy Awards and People’s Choice Awards in 2013-2016. Ellen also hosted many award shows throughout 2001-2003 and judged one season of American Idol in 2010. Ellen is also known as the voice of Dory in “Finding Nemo” and “Finding Dory”. One of Ellen’s greatest accomplishments is receiving the Medal of Freedom from President Obama in November
