As I was bouncing up and down, I realized that it was astounding how much pleasure I got from doing it . Sitting in the tight, purple harness, I tried my hardest to convince Ella to leap off. When I made the suggestion she stopped laughing and hollered down,

“Emily, as long as I live I will never leap off of a 50 foot bridge! Especially above a river moving incredibly fast, that if I go under I’ll be gone, in a second!”

“Ella, I promise you will not go under the water! At most you will feel the water on your toes and by the time you feel it, you will be going back up!”

It was already four o’clock and it was going to become dark soon and neither of us wanted to drive for an hour when there was no light. Ella and I were enjoying the bungee so much that after plunging three more times, we thanked the man for helping us, and hopped in the car.

We chatted up a storm the entire way home. Neither of us had the slightest idea how enjoyable bungee jumping was. Even though both of us were terrified, we had the time of our lives. After putting on our bright pink leotards and ballet shoes, which trust me we're not the most fashionable, we went out to the car to wait on Dianna’s mom. I should mention it was still raining as if the earth would flood outside, this made it slightly hard to hear but we ran out to the car anyway. Me, Dianna, and Dalton bolted through the door, sprinting to the car that Dianna had unlocked with the small remote. The cold rain made the humid, hot day not feel as bad as the rest of that summer had been, which was dry and hot. When we got into the car we sat for a bit but then Dianna decided she wanted to turn on the music so she jumps to the front seat of the car.…

Three years ago, with my encouragement, a friend decided to take a leap and achieve the practically impossible. He fell and broke his left leg. The leap, as suggested by its title, is the story of a mother's leap, both physical and emotional, in the hopes of creating a good life for her family. It is the story of courage and bravery winning over fear. The story mostly takes place in flashbacks, with the trigger incident being the storm during the trapeze act, and the climax the mother deciding to take a leap, literally and figuratively, to save her daughter from the burning building, tying perfectly to the theme, it pays to overcome fear with bravery.…
