Elk's Lodge Scholarship

Ever since I was a little kid, I have always been a highly motivated individual. Striving for perfection has never been a foreign concept to me. This motivation all started when I was just eleven years old. I remember dreaming about winning the Elk’s National “Hoop Shoot” Free Throw Contest. I’d go outside my house and shoot free throws for hours on end in the freezing cold. All my practice paid off that year as I placed third at the state level. The Elk’s Lodge gave me tremendous support throughout the entire process. Without this opportunity, I honestly wouldn’t be the same person that I am today. Through the Elk’s Organization, I learned at an early age that with hard work, anything is possible. I have transferred this same work ethic …show more content…
For me, this goal is no different. If I end up in a career where I can’t make a difference in this world, I have not achieved my most important goal. Ten years from now, I want to be able to say I have made a difference. I believe that a career in biomedical engineering gives me that opportunity. This makes an investment in a biomedical engineer a good one as you know the society in which we live in will be greatly impacted in a positive way. As an applicant for the Fort Morgan Elk’s Lodge Scholarship, I feel like I have distanced myself from my peers in the classroom. I have taken pride in my education at Fort Morgan High School by setting my goals high and working extremely hard to attain them. By applying and being accepted to the Honors Program at Colorado State University, I have already displayed my interest in continuing this trend in college and in my future career. Through the Honors Program, I will be given opportunities for research, leadership, and community service. I plan on making the most of all my opportunities at Colorado State University and beyond making me an excellent candidate for the Fort Morgan Elk’s Lodge Scholarship. Thank you for considering me for the Fort Morgan Elk’s Lodge Scholarship. It is extremely kind-hearted for you to give out these scholarships every year. I would be truly honored to receive this

My School district I’ve been in since halfway through kindergarten has one high school, two junior highs, a couple of middle schools and a variety of elementary schools; the fire trucks for the town have the high school mascot on the side. Small town education is different in the way that honor classes have a set of students that take them, and there is rarely a variation from this set of students in those classes. I saw that many students who did not start honors classes in junior high do not think that they can take these advanced classes, they have become viewed as “elite”. My sophomore year history teacher that year agreed with me that the view needed to be changed, so she sponsored a club we headed named “AP Ambassadors”. “AP Ambassadors”…

Southern Methodist University’s mission statement expresses the values I admire and seek in a University such as, “promoting an environment emphasizing individual dignity and worth”. Being a student that struggled in school early on, I knew re-building my-self-worth would be crucial for success in college. Following my enrolment at Tarrant County College, I have joined the Cornerstone honors program offered at the campus and elected officer of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. These two organizations have served as complimentary forces that have enriched me with leadership, fellowship and intellectual skills I will contribute to my community. I view Southern Methodist University as a local gem.…

There are various reasons as to why I’m deserving of the Etna-Dixmont School Scholarship. The most prevalent reason is my family history and connection with the town of Dixmont. My father and my grandparents moved to from Massachusetts to Dixmont, Maine when he was in second grade. My grandfather bought a house on Route 9 in Dixmont, and some other land in addition to that. The Dixmont Corner Church was built in 1835, and had an active one room school house next to it that was built in 1808.…

One of the first task that I undertook as the president of the UCLA’s Mortar Board Honor Society was to reinstate our chapter’s academic scholarship program. The large scope of the project required me to exercise fiscal responsibility and employ innovative methods to reach our fundraising goal of 1000 dollars. While keeping up with my academic and research responsibilities, I applied for multiple grants to fund our community service projects. By delegating tasks such as sponsor recruitment to specific members, I ensured that everyone felt an integral part of this project. Thanks to grant fundings and rigorous outreach, we actually surpassed our fundraising goal.…

I would like to thank you for rewarding me with the Finley-Ledall scholarship. This 2016-2017 academic year is the first year I have taken out a private loan by myself to pay for school, so this scholarship is significantly going to help me out and lighten my financial burden of paying for school this year. I am very appreciative to be a recipient of this scholarship. I grew up in the mountains of Conifer, Colorado and moved up to Greeley to go to school here at UNC a couple years ago. I am a junior this year studying finance, and now that I am finally able to start taking my major courses I look forward to this year and the next since I will be taking classes that I find to be interesting.…

After my two full years at Roscommon High School, I am very grateful to have reached the standard for National Honor Society membership. This is an opportunity that not everyone has the privilege to be a part of during their high school career. I would like to display the ways in which I have demonstrated the required assets to be a part of this organization. Not only do I possess the qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service, but through N.H.S., I am certain that I will grow tremendously in each of these areas. The first quality I have demonstrated throughout my life, but more specifically, my high school career, is character.…

I was born in Mexico and moved to the United States when I was three years old. Growing up my parents worked all the time and my older siblings would take care of my twin sister and I. Despite my parents not being able to be there at all times, they instilled in me the importance of school and hard work. It is because of their sacrifices and hard work that I have been able to become the person I am today. As a result of the various science related classes that I have taken, I intend to study biomedical engineering.…

WHY I WANT TO JOIN THE HONORS PROGRAM Alighting from a Boeing 747 jetliner on the JFK tarmac on Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, I walked into what could be called a new page in my life story—a new start. That was my first time on this side of the hemisphere. With little money, zero friends, one close relative and little to hold on to, I found myself leaning on only a thread of asset – my mind. Knowing this, I vowed to keep this God given asset alive and growing with all my soul and might, and what better way to do this than to identify with people of like passion, people who will add to me.…

Essay I am grateful for this opportunity to apply for the Viola B. Wilson Endowed Scholarship and the John S. Staley Memorial Fund scholarships.
