We all live with the power of choice. Often times I will find myself playing out in my head the consequences of this action or that, however absurd, and it brings me back to this idea. Throughout most of our lives we allow circumstances to get the better of our dreams, for some it is much more difficult than others to break out of what they are living and do what they truly want; however it is trying that gives our lives purpose and meaning. If each person were to accept fully whatever life was set out for them without deviation there would be no rebellion or concept of freedom, there would be no hope. According to the excerpt from the novel The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert, it is an individual’s responsibility to take control of their own fate and mould their lives into something worth living.
