I started my research with finding background information on Elizabeth Blackwell. This lets me know how what she did changed history and how I can put my project in historical context. Then, I looked at videos from different sources to have an analysis from a different perspective. Next I found different primary sources to put in my project when I talk about them. I also found primary sources to learn about how it was during Blackwell’s time, and how it changed after she was an M.D.. I chose a documentary for my topic because I am very interested in technology. I did a website last year, and I wanted to try something new. Since there was no word count, I decided that I would be able to fit the most information into my project with a documentary. I could also use another video in my documentary since there aren’t any videos during Blackwell’s time. I think it is very fun to “futz” with editing tools and software. A documentary also lets me use multimedia to show information. These are the reasons I chose a documentary for my National History Day project this
