Elin Jean Character Essay

Decent Essays
I really enjoyed all the actors and the emotion they put into their performance. The person I admire most would have Elin Jean. Elin Jean plays the daughter of Duncan and Margaret. I believe Elin Jean was the most successful character because of her ability to express her emotion through her face. All characters do this but hers was the biggest and shown the best. When she would argue with Tam, her facial expressions would show how upset she was. Then when she would dance you could see a huge smile across her face and she expressed joy and contentment. Elin Jean was very strong minded and expressed her views on the Selkies, and no one could ever change her mind. I believe being a strong character like she was, also made her performance successful.

The stories "An Adventure in Paris"(NASF. 493) by Guy De Maupassant and "Everyday Use"(NASF. 816) by Alice Walker showcase similar and different ways to present a story through point of view and characters. Both stories have characters that are functional and symbolic to the story. Each of these stories uses both a foil and utilitarian through one character, Dee and Jean Varin, that ultimately changes the protagonist for the better and allows them to see what they have. De Maupassant makes his story a mix of third-person story telling and first-person experience to expose the extremity of a woman's curiosity. Meanwhile, Walker only uses the first person narration, which gives us perspective into the protagonist’s mind.…
