They finally stop and are allowed to rest. Elie and his father make sure that they don’t fall asleep and die. They arrived to Gleiwitz and stayed there for three days without food and water. Once again selection happens and Elie creates a distraction to save his father from dying. They were shoved into cattle cars and taken to Buchenwald. His father was too weak and soon was in the clinic. Elie was giving him his rations to take care of him. His father is beaten by bunkmates because he relieves himself in bed and steal his rations. On January 29,1945 his father’s body is removed from his bed. Elie remained in the camp until April 11 when they resistance group fought the SS and won the fight. Elie has a few themes throughout that book that he develops to tell his personal experience which include; ignorances, cruelty, and the relationship between his father and him. He explores these differents themes throughout the book in detail keeping the reader engaged.
In the beginning of the novel, the people of Sighet kept ignoring everything that was happening until it was too late. Moishe told them about what had happen to him, but everyone ignored him and continued to live their life. After a while the Germans came to town, but they still didn’t think anything was going to happen. Eventually everyone was transported to concentration camps. The Jews could’ve listen to Moishe and learned what had happen, possibly leaving town before matters got worse.
