Elie shows stamina emotionally by never giving up and always overcome challenges. First on page 8, Elie continues on with his life and remains hopeful for the end of the war, even when German troops have taken over his town. He states that,”...we, the Jews of Sighet waited for better days that were soon to come.” This shows that he is able to remain positive in a hard time. Elie states, “The journey had just begun and I already felt so weak.” The fact that he was so weak and still was able to push himself to run shows physical stamina. Also on page 86 Elie shows stamina by running with his wounded foot. Not only is he wounded, but there are people falling around him, he is tired, and the weather is dangerously bad.
