Q1: Elie is a Jew in this book which that meant he was sent to the concentration camps. His whole family had to go to the camps. When Elie went to the camps, he always wanted to stick with his father no matter. If he's ever sick, Elie will always be there for him no matter what happens. Many Jews in the camps thought God left them and they thought God has abandon them and Jews were questioning why do they still believe in God if he has put them in this situation. Even a Rabbi was questioning where's God and why is even believing in God. A Rabbi is a Jewish teacher who studies Jewish laws. The Rabbi asked "Where is the divine Mercy?" Where is God? How can I believe, how could anyone believe in this merciful God?" (Author) If I saw him saying …show more content…
I would a rosary, a bracelet that my dad gave me when I was little, a music necklace, family picture, and a picture book. I would bring a family picture because I wanted to remember that my family was there for me even if they died. I wanted to remain myself that I should be appreciate what my family has done for me like paying for my education, having a safe shelter, having food to eat while others might that have any of that. Even though I'm going to lose those privileges when I'm going to be relocate. I want a family picture to remain myself that it was great back then and to remember that good time. I would want to bring a rosary because my family is religious and always wanted me to pray and go to mass every week, but I don't do that offer. Since I'm in the camps, I would want to pray more and pray to every Jew in the camps including me that we can get out of this mess and reunited with our friends and family. I would bring the rosary that my teacher gave me when I was in 2nd grade. That teacher was the one that helped me understand religion, math, and all the subjects she thought. Some people don't like her because she's mean, but those are the teachers that helped me learn to most. She was retiring that year I was there which back then I was sad, but i didn't appreciate how much she helped in in school. When it was the last day of her teaching, she gave everyone a rosary to remember her. This rosary remains me how much school has impact my life and I should be appreciate that I have that education. The reason why I would bring a music necklace was because was so I remember those times that I didn't give up. When I was a 5th grader, I can remember that I was playing the flute. I couldn't make a sound out of it for months which it felt like years. I was a slow learner. While everyone else knew how to read notes and playing their instruments like no big deal. I was still behind and

Journal 1: Marie-Laure and Walter Pfenning are relatively close in age, and are on opposite ends of the nazi war. The story tells the story from both perspectives, from two children from the same the same town which makes this an interesting read. Werner reminds me of my sister because I would remember she was obviously more literate and she could figure out problems or come up with ideas faster than I could, and I, like Werner’s brothers, I would just play along and ask lots of naive questions. After reading the chapter where there is a flashback to Werner's childhood, when he is eight, I automatically compared him to the kids I babysit, whatever they hear, or see, they think is true and don't question it because they don’t have the knowledge to. Marie-Laure is like a loyal colonel , she gets knocked down, quite literally, but also figuratively life knocks Marie-Laure down; yet she never backs down from a challenge.…

July-Day 18 I can barely pull myself out of bed today, it's cold outside the blankets that have kept me safe since my descent to dreamland where I have been since 6:30 PM. I've slept for 12 hours and I want to keep sleeping. I want to stay in bed where nothing happens to any extremes. I dreamt of lighthouses and the light it casts out over the clear blue gulf sending a signal of safety to those passing by. I wonder about all the things that are like lighthouses to me.…

We cannot understand them. Because they dwell in the depths of our souls and remain there until we die. The real answers, Eliezer, you will find only within yourself,” (Wiesel,5). This piece of evidence supports the idea of Elies ideals on religion and his eagerness to learn. Losing the Most Valuable Possession Identity is important because it truly defines who the person is, but it is very easy to lose your identity. The Holocaust was a genocide in which Adolf Hitler’s Nazis killed many Jewish people. The Nazis sent the Jews to concentration camps, tortured them and striped them out of their identities. In his memoir, Night, Elie Wiesel describes the awful actions the Nazis did to him and his family; for example, they forced the Jews to wear a yellow star armband, which makes them feel less of a human, and slowly made the Jews forget who they were. By using details that describe pain and suffrage, Wiesel shows that when mankind is tormented and isolated from the rest of the world, people can lose their identity which leads to a desire to give up on life.…

He asks him, “What are You, my God... compared to this afflicted crowd, proclaiming to You their faith, their anger, their revolt?” (63). In the quote Elie wonders, how could the Jewish people still pray to God even though He allowed such horrors to be inflicted on his followers? Although many have endured indescribable cruelty, the Jewish people’s proclamation to God “their faith, their anger, their revolt” displays their inner conflict in which they pray to God and simultaneously feel rage towards Him.…

Today when i go into town i hope to find some pieces of iron and some glass bottles also some pieces of plants and seeds wouldn't be bad because when I retire I don't want to fall apart and become a pile of fat that just lies around all day yelling at people who pass by. For my retirement I want to be a farmer and to get daily exercise from chores that I do on a daily basis. Another thing I would like is a lesson book on buddhism and hinduism so I can learn what the gentlemen around the fire were talking about but besides the iron and seeds and glass I also see people starving and those who are fat and I think I should try to help those who are starving…

After hearing these bold words, Elie’s feelings change as he has a realization that he can only survive if he goes on alone. Elie understands that surviving requires selfish thinking, and it is “everyman for himself” when trying to stay alive in the adverse conditions of the camps. Elie must not “think about others” because the thoughts will only slow him down and handicap him in the long run. He has to put everything out of his mind, “even [his] father” who has played a large role in his life and survival so far. At the start…
