Tzipora Wiesel - a lily amongst the weeds
White lilies are known to be symbols of purity, which is something Tzipora seems embody. She is the youngest sister, and seems to be emotionally and mentally strong for her age, as she did not show sadness when the Wiesel’s were forced from their home. When Tzipora is still alive, Elie has hope that all that has happened could be a nightmare. That someone will rescue him. However, when Tzipora (and Elie’s mother) disappear (and are killed), Elie’s hope seems to leave him.

Eliezer Wiesel - who brought the voices of the dead to life
This is a man who grew to be eighty-seven. He survived the worst massacre of our time, and after, decided to spread the word that the Holocaust did happen. He told the story of his people, the Jews. He did not stay silent after this horrific event happened. He, though it took about two decades, began to “yell”, if you will.

Not to say that Elie didn’t have any reason to be positive. He, and his father, were in Hell. They were taken from their family, and were now no better than pigs in the mud. However, Shlomo, time and time again, was hope for Elie. Elie found a reason to live, thanks to his father. Shlomo kept his head up, during his stay in Auschwitz. Until after the Death March. Shlomo falls ill, and his hope vanishes. Hope is like a flickering candle. It is there, blinking in and out of existence, until there is a great enough wind to extinguish it.

Moishe - the wolf wears sheep’s clothing
Moishe, in the beginning, warns the people of Sighet of the German’s cruelty. He was relentless in telling people of how the Germans killed children, and would shoot babies. No one believed his warnings, and continued to think the Germans who were staying in Sighet didn’t have evil intent. I cannot remember where I’ve heard this phrase before, but I believe it relays his

Today Wiesel has rediscovered his faith after time away from his trauma. However during the Holocaust his faith was invisible. Before, Eliezer a curious young Jewish boy, asked Moishe the Beadle about Jewish customs and mysticism. “...I told him how unhappy I was not to be able to find in Sighet a master to teach me the Zohar…” Wiesel asked questions and explored his faith. Nothing would stop him, even when his father told him not to find a master, but Eliezer did anyway.…

Babies! Yes, I did see this, with my own eyes… children thrown into the flames,” (Elie Wiesel, 32). This helps further the argument, if whether or not, Elie Wiesel has the right to represent all Jewish people, who perished in the Holocaust, by informing people of the inhumane things that were done to these people. He uses evidence from his experiences to explain how the people were treated. This evidence claims, that they were treated, not as humans, but as animals and things.…

“The only thing keeping me alive,” he kept saying, “is to know that Reizel and the little ones are still alive.” This man was betting on the life of his family and he was given fake news that was literally the only thing left between him and death, when that man heard the real truth, he was never seen again. Elie Wiesel's great writing and use of metaphors and similes exemplify the pain he and the people he knew endured, the horror he witnessed, and the destruction of his faith. Elie Wiesel and the people he knew and cared for witnessed and endured much pain, more pain than we can imagine. As Elie wrote in his book Night “We were withered trees in the heart of the desert.…

The Father Lantom, in response to Matt Murdock’s confession that he had the Devil inside him, said, “Maybe you’re being called to summon the better angels of your nature. Maybe that’s the struggle you’re feeling”(“The”). The struggle between the side of the angels and the side of the devils may commonly be felt as one reads about the horrors of the Holocaust. Among these accounts is the story of Elie Wiesel, a young Romanian teenager who, along with his father, suffered through the concentration camps of the Nazi party. As Elie illustrates through his personal story, “Night”, selfish need triumphs over selfless tendencies during hardships, seen in his increasing callousness towards others and his internal battle between helping his father and…

Taking place in an anti-utopia Orange County, California, the novel is an all-embracing depiction of drug culture and drug use, both recreational and abusive. In A Scanner Darkly, Phillip K Dick implies that technological advances such as the ubiquitous machines, exposed in the novel, are harmful to humanity because they create dependency, distraught sense of identity, and the loss of ones singularity. The fight did not end after the Holocaust; it only got worse. “Wiesel explained in All Rivers Run to the Sea that although the survivors felt greatly relieved to be safe at last, they ‘were not happy’ and wondered whether they would ever feel joy again. The reign of terror had ended, but for many-like Elie- liberation came too late. He was an orphan, alone in the world, searching for relatives and a place to go.” (ELIE WIESEL Spokesman for Remembrance, Dr. Linda Bayer, 62) After the Holocaust, Elie had a battle to face to live without his parents and for the longest time, he believed that he was the only one left from his family.…

Elie’s feelings change because he no longer cares for his father with the same affection as before the camps due to the drastically different circumstances. As Shlomo “called out to” Elie, he does not answer. Elie “had not answered” because it is too much effort to answer his father and care for him when Elie’s energy levels are very low and he needs to preserve his energy for himself. Because of this selfish yet survivalist action, Elie’s father dies and is taken away over the night, and when Elie wakes up in the morning he is sorrowful, but he is relieved and he says that he is “free at last” from the weakness of his…
