Eleven By Sandra Cisneros Essay

The poem, “maggie and milly and molly and may” by e.e cummings is about four girls who went to the beach one day. Also, the short story “Eleven” by Sandra Cisneros is a story about a girl named Rachel whose eleventh birthday was taking place. Through the use of different methods, both authors have both similarities and differences with their approaches to help convey the theme in their stories/poems. With the good use their approaches, both of these authors can convey to the reader that the experiences you’ve had in life help shape/form your unique identity. In the poem, “maggie and milly and molly and may” the author uses precise word choice to help convey the theme of identity from one of the four characters milly. When she went to the beach she found a star who she made friends with. “milly befriended a stranded star whose rays five languid fingers were;” (cummings 13).
