It was July 8, 1959 in New York. Elena Gilbert and her family went on a family trip to their lake house. The members of the family are Kevin Gilbert, the dad, Jessica Gilbert, the sister/ daughter, Melissa Gilbert, sister/ daughter, and Jeffrey, brother/ son. Their mother had died from cancer in May of 1959. Elena and her dad were very close unlike the rest of their family. She was an open book she told her dad everything. From who her boyfriend was to what her siblings did wrong. After their mother died everyone except for Elena had shut themselves from letting people in. They did that because they didn’t want to be hurt in that way ever again.
The family had no time to go to the store to buy dinner. So they decided to fish for their own dinner.

Eventually all of it became way too much for her. At 9:42 pm they found the hanging body of Elena Gilbert. Her entire family had a funeral for Elena. When they came home from their grieving they saw Elena. They thought that they must have been hallucinating because they missed her so much. However that had not been the case. Elena was standing in front of them not as a human, but as a ghost. Elena was there so that she could explain why she did what she did. It was 3 months after her death. The family had started to get past the death of Elena. Until they saw her again, she was standing in the doorway staring at them. Everyone was quiet in shock. Finally Jeffery said, “Elena, is that really you?” “Yes?,” said Elena. She was confused on how or why she was here. She was actually there in the flesh in blood. So many questions ran through everyone's mind. They didn’t know how she was there and how she was real. She explained that she was resurrected by the Gods of Salmon. The Gods of Salmon were a God that was not above nor below, but in between it was a place where people with unfinished business went. The reason why he let her go was because she was constantly begging to go to her boyfriend and family and he said, “OK peasant, leave to your lonely friends and family.” When the God let her go he said that there was a cost. She had heard that, but she didn’t care, she just wanted to get
