Popular culture incorporates an array of genres, personally I consume popular music, primarily those played on the radio. Major sporting associations, football, basketball, hockey, and soccer. Additionally, movies and tv shows starred by key actors in the entertainment industry. As well, keeping up with modern fashion trends.

6. If you consume elements of popular culture coming from outside the country you live in, how do these elements change the way you think about the world and your own identity/nationality?
The United States being similar to Canada provides me with little opportunity to look at my own identity or the events of the world differently. However, the recent turmoil in the US makes me happy to be living in Canada. As the US is so polarized and common ground seems to be far and few in between. However, being born in Russia and living there for some years in my childhood and having family there does challenge some elements of my identity. As the story of Russia versus the west has a lot of history. Thus, music, movies, or news that I obtain from there challenges a lot of the information that I obtain. Providing me with a different vantage point of contemporary world events.
