This paper expresses the formal elements and stylistic choices in the clip watched of Double Indemnity, directed by Billy Wilders. The clip is a length of two minutes and thirty-four seconds and is contained into 5 shots. The sequence is set with two men that are entering an elevator and are having a conversation, while one of the two characters exits the elevator, walking through the aisle to enter his office. The sequence proceeds with the man entering his office and started to have the following conversation with someone on the phone.

The accompanying shot is capturing one of the men that is being identified as Mr. Neff and an old man in a medium close shot, which is approximately 45 seconds long. During this shot, two men are seen

The third shot begun when Mr. Neff is entering a darkened office and walks over to his desk, turns on lamp, and sits down. This shot begun as the lights being off at the office at first, then the lights turn on. This shot is a medium long shot, because when Mr. Neff was about to enter the darkened room, the camera was capturing his whole body, as well as his surrounding. As Mr. Neff walked toward the desk and turned on the light, that's when the shot switched to being a medium shot, showing only waist up of Mr. Neff. The camera movement in this shot is panning to the right, while Mr. Neff was walking towards the desk. When this shot was first captured, the whole scene was dark. This is evident, because the the outline of Mr. Neff’s body was showing, as he was standing at the door. As the scene kept going the lighting switched to becoming dim, as Mr. Neff turned on the lamb. The lighting in this scene can be described as low-key lighting, as it is producing dark contrasts and pattern outlining of the figure of Mr. Neff. The fourth shot is capturing Mr. Neff in a medium shot sitting on the chair of the desk. This is illustrating a medium shot, because it only showing the waist up of the body. The camera is panning to the left as he takes cover off of telephone unit. The lighting in this scene was bright,
