Interior designers have many different responsibilities; many do not realize how much they are in charge of. Designer have to look at the whole architectural picture to design the room. “When going to school for interior design, I never struggled with doing well on projects, as long as they met the project requirements and were of good quality, I got an ‘A’. With my very first real-life client, I designed her entire living room and master bedroom, and after presenting the design, she said, “I hate it””, said Fuchs. Learning that although a design may seem just was the client described they wanted, and perfect for the setting, it may not always be what they had in mind. Designers have to develop thick skin so that they don’t take it personally when a client does not like the design. “It 's all about the real world job experience. School is great but getting an internship and a job really open up your eyes to the real tasks designers face,” said Jenkins. Getting internships will help with learning the process of being a designer and will teach you how communicate with clients. Becoming an interior designer will be a lot of hard work. It a very demanding job, but it is definitely worth all the work.
