Elementary Teacher as a Dream Career 1 Picture this, you walk into your class room of third graders, and smell crayons and markers. You have a room full of kids waiting to be taught. They all have the ability and potential to succeed in life. You the educator just has to be the right person to supply them with the simple knowledge to get there. As you begin to take a deep breathe you realize something. This generation is in your hands and you’re one the teaching what’s wrong to what’s right. It’s your job to make them feel safe in this environment and to learn. 4 There are two main national education organizations. They both explain and give the basic information on becoming an educator. There’s NEA (National Education Association) and AFT (American Federation of Teachers). AFT was founded in Chicago. They only had eight locations that soon turned into three thousand locations. Their mission is to ensure schools educate and provide public services to everyone’s community (AFT). The birth of NEA was in 1857, “43 educators gathered in Philadelphia, answering a national cause of public education” (NEA). They both have a website that can help look more into teaching. 18 Being an educator is something to take pride in. You’re helping kids mature and giving them an education. This is the most important thing to give someone in this life. You go to school for at least five years and graduate to eventually make $56,700 a year. Not only are you teaching Elementary students you’re helping everyone in that community. That is a true blessing in a lot of people’s eyes.
