The students in the Functional Life Skills classroom have been diagnosed with Autism, Down syndrome, Fragile X, cognitive delays, and other health impairments. Working with a team of professionals provides the students with guidance for success.
Problem Statement
The problem addressed by this Action Research Project focuses on two Kindergarten Functional Life Skills students who struggle with one-to-one correspondence. The students are unable to count and point simultaneously. The Kindergarten students were individually assessed using a classroom-based assessment. The students were provided groups of manipulatives ranging from one to ten. The students were given directions to count the objects in the presented groups. The students received a 0% on the assessment, as they were unable to complete the task.
