Elementary School To Derby: A Short Story

Improved Essays
This is a story when my sister and I moved schools. We moved from Bostic Traditional Magnet Elementary School to Pleasantview Elementary School. We moved from Wichita to Derby in about a year. Which means we moved schools very quickly and I lost contact with a lot of my friends. I didn't have much fun because I had know except two of my friends from Bostic.
My parents told us when we were in 4th and 2nd grade that we would be moving to Derby because we had bought land in. They said we could finish out 5th grade. Later that year they told us that we would be moving homes and schools when we were going into 5th and 3rd grade. We were very mad because they had lied to us but then they said I’m sorry but they didnt want me going into middle school

He was very excited and told me that there was going to be a new school built at the campus of Aurora University that was focused on STEM. My dad asked me if I wanted to fill out the application to go and I said no. I didn’t want to leave all my friends to go to a new school. My dad always forced me to try new things and new experiences so I knew he wouldn’t take no for an answer.…

As a small, scrawny, confused 8th grade boy, the transition from a coed middle school - Roger Ludlowe Middle School - to Fairfield Prep was an enormous step for me socially and academically. At that time in my life, I was unsure if Fairfield Prep was going to be a good fit for me: all I had ever heard about the school were glowing reports from my older sister's friends who attended. Fortunately, looking back at it, attending Fairfield Prep was one of the most impactful and beneficial decisions I have ever made for myself as it inspired me to be "open to growth". This institution has not only pushed me academically, but it allowed me to stretch my comfort-zone and become more comfortable with myself.…

Even though everyone who goes to Shakopee High School knows about this situation, they do not know how much it has significantly affected my life. My life changed last year in so many ways. In some ways this has given me more opportunities, but in most cases this event has negatively changed everything around me. Worst of all it has made me lose many friends, given me a bad reputation, and has made everyone think that I am someone that I am not. People I had never met did not like me, discriminated against me in some situations; but on the other hand, it has showed me who my real friends are because they continued to persevere by my side and stuck with me through all of the tough times.…
