I work at the front desk at Wheeler County Elementary School as the receptionist. I sit at the front desk, and I complete any available tasks. I am the first person people see when they walk into the elementary school, and my job is to help them with what they need. I feel like this job is good for me because of my outgoing personality. For example, I enjoy the interactions I am able to have with people. I also enjoy seeing all of the students. One thing I find difficult is answering the phone. It is sometimes hard to hear what the person on the phone is saying to you. I have to ask multiple times for the information they are trying to give me. I want to make sure I am writing down the correct information. Another thing I found difficult was learning how the phone and intercom worked. It took me awhile to figure out how to transfer phone calls and call classrooms over the intercom.
The main skill I need to work on is the phones. I need to make sure I understand correctly and clearly the information given to me. I also need to try harder to listen faster to the information. One thing I need help on is when the front office gets crowded with parents checking their kids out of school. It is very overwhelming when there are more than two people checking kids out. I usually need help when it gets crazy. I do believe I will learn everything to the best of my abilities.
Overall, I really enjoy my job placement. I am also very thankful for the job experience. Even though I have room for improvement, I feel very good about my progress. I know I will excel greatly at this job. This job gives me work experience I otherwise would not get, and I am very grateful for
