As we grow, our ideas and opinions grow with us. This is to say that as we grow and learn more, our ideas and opinions change with us. This happens with anything from music to holidays. Christmas has always been about family for me. However it wasn’t exactly the main focus when I was in elementary school. When I got older and into middle school my ideas started to change. Now, in high school, I have a more sophisticated idea of Christmas and what I look forward to. Family has always been very important to me. My family has always been a close knit unit. As with most families however, life happened and we all live in separate states. As personal families got started and grew larger it became harder to get together. This is why we don’t get to see each other all that often. Whenever we get together it is all the more special because of this. I can’t wait to see them now. I now look forward to seeing family I haven’t seen in a long time or have never seen. For example, I have a cousin who is turning two this year. She and her family live out in Utah and we don’t get to see them at all. I haven’t met Chloe or my Uncle Moroni yet. More importantly, I can’t wait to see all of my family. I especially can’t wait to see my older sister Sheryl. With work and school we don’t get to see each other often making the time we do spend together all the more special. This is the reason that Christmas is my favorite holiday, I get to see all of my family. Now I really don’t care what I get. In fact, I actually have to be told to write a list. Even then, it is a minimal list at best. Christmas now has a deeper meaning for me. My religion has gotten stronger as I have grown and matured, therefore the religious meaning, Christ’s birth, has also become a major part of my life.
