E-cigarette usage has shown to reduce consumption of tobacco cigarettes (Polosa et al. 2013, 4965). According to (Etter 2010, 6), out of eighty-one respondents in a survey who were on trial for their opinions of E-cigarettes and why it is used, majority of them being former smokers, strongly believed E-cigarettes helped them to quit smoking, other than only suffering from minor adverse effects such as coughing. With the availability of flavourings in E-liquids, out of the four thousand six hundred and eighteen participants included in a specific survey to study the variety of flavours in E-cigarettes in the process of cutting down on traditional cigarette consumption or ceasing smoking altogether was rated four out of five on average, which is the score for “very important” (Farsalinos et al. 2013, 7275). As written by (McQueen, Tower and Sumner 2011, 862), one E-cigarette user can be very influential on others who smoke traditional cigarettes. The U.S. FDA has identified deadly chemicals such as carcinogens and other harmful substances in a specific sample of E-liquid from two dominant E-cigarette brand suppliers (U.S. Food and Drug Administration 2009). According to (Lam, Nana and Eastwood 2014, 946), the potency and safety of E-cigarettes as cessation aids from smoking are not justified as well as being on par with conventional cigarettes due to its nicotine existence.
