Electrically powered cars will be critically important in the future. There are many reasons why electrically powered cars will be a more efficient and eco-friendly form of transportation. Oil will become an unpopular form of fuel in the future due to the fact that there is a very limited supply, even now in present time, we have to find new methods of getting every last drop of oil. We will eventually run the world dry of oil and then we will have no other choice than to find a new source of fuel and power, making electrically powered cars a much better alternative.

The methods used now to obtain oil are getting more and more complex to the point that people have died just so others could drive their cars. Just last year an explosion occurred on a large oil rig, killing many of the workers and the ones that were lucky enough to survive suffered extreme injuries and would never be the same and this event was called the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion. The Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion refers to the April 20, 2010 explosion and subsequent fire on the Deepwater Horizon semi-submersible Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU), which was owned and operated by Transocean and drilling for BP in the Macondo Prospect oil field about forty miles southeast of the Louisiana coast. The explosion killed eleven workers and injured sixteen others. The explosion caused the Deepwater Horizon to burn and sink, resulting in a massive offshore oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, considered the largest accidental marine oil spill in the world, and the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history.
