Electric cars have been around since the 1830’s, but saw a major decline during the 1900’s when the Model T was introduced and mass produced killing any hope for electric cars until now[]. As we all know electric vehicles run off batteries becoming more environmental friendly. Figure A shows a general outline of what an Electric vehicle consists of. Electric motors get there power from a controller, while the controller gets its power from rechargeable batteries. Batteries come in many different varieties and utilizing different components making some more efficient than others. Battery efficiency is the main focus while creating electric vehicles making them lighter, durable and long lasting.
Since the 1980’s electric cars have been obsolete to fossil fuel vehicles due to the fact that until now electric vehicles can only be driven for less than 100 miles before needing a recharge. Formula E an all-electric

There are several types of hybrid vehicles (figure E) as well as several ways that they can be connected (Figure D). Parallel is when the battery is connected to the motor and the motor is connected in between the combustible engine and the transmission. Series is when the battery is connected to both the motor and the generator, while the generator connected to the engine. Parallel is slightly more efficient than series due to no generator. Also there as several types of hybrid vehicles with a combination of electric, combustible engine, and hydraulic systems embedded within the vehicle with Hydraulic-Electric Hybrid Vehicle being the most efficient of any of the multiple combinations resulting in seventy-five percent improvement from regular vehicles. This conclusion was tested by Jia-Shiun Chen from the Department of Vehicle Engineering at National Taipei University of Technology determining the most efficient hybrid
