Start with the input-resource extraction, distribution and disposal require distinct material and property. In distribution, paper card box is typically use for outside packaging, inside there maybe polystyrene foam or small plastic bags to separate the brush head, toothbrush and charger. If it could reduce to one type of material for example only cardboard, then costs on purchasing and packaging could be saved. Also, a simple and compact package can lower the weight, favor the energy use during transportation and average cost because more products can be transported in the same …show more content…
For incineration and landfill, energy and resource is wasted, even release CO2 and other chemicals to the environment. For recycling, the end-of-life product can be turned into resource again inside the electric toothbrush cycle or into other process.
The idea of relationship between manufacturing and consumer use and disposal is similar above, that is the design and processes will make a difference in the following stages. For example, a toothbrush battery is broken but the product is perfectly sealed. If the design is changed to the opposite, then it can continue its life instead of disposed early than its functional unit.
Between package and disposal, although cardboard is biodegradable and recyclable, a lot of company choose to have cardboard with plastic coating which makes it less recyclable and sustainable. Some consumers may not know if they can recycle the coated box and result in treating them as regular garbage. So choosing non coated cardboard is environment better and give better incentive for recycling because it is obvious recyclable comparatively.

Recycling is the procedure of altering discarded materials into reusable items to stop the surplus of possibly beneficial resources, lessen the consumption of new raw supplies, energy treatment, air pollution and water pollution by declining the need for conservative waste dumping and dropping greenhouse gas productions associated to the plastic manufacture. Recycling is a crucial factor of current discarded materials being reused and it helps reducing the greenhouse gas emissions because it keeps using the same energy to recreate different materials that are beneficial to everyday life. By reducing what we buy that isn’t necessary to live, then it helps lower production rates and increase natural resources’ production rate. Then we can reuse the energy from objects already created to make something just as good or even better. Then we recycle that created object and then the cycle keeps on going.…

I knew that like all disposable products, onetime use diapers are wasteful. One article mentions, “Disposable diapers are made from materials that don’t biodegrade well. Materials like paper, plastic and the absorptive gel, sodium polyacrylate will remain in landfills for generations.” (BabyCenter) Not only does this contribute to pollution, but the fecal matter often left in the diapers rather than flushed is a health hazard. Cloth diapers were long considered to be more environmentally friendly. Though there are still costs and usages associated with the manufacturing process, the diapers themselves are reused instead of trashed.…

A large amount of energy is consumed by processing raw materials at the time of manufacture, and recycling helps to minimize that energy consumption. This reduction in energy consumption can also decrease the amount pollution associated with creating energy. This includes the production of industrial products such as cans, chemicals, and plastics. These materials are being re-used, and not just being thrown away (“Advantages and Disadvantages of Recycling” ). Global warming is decreases when we recycle.…

The government prefers Landfills because it is a cheap and effective way to "get rid" of our wastes, like plastic. But in fact we are not disposing the waste at all we are just hiding it. Recycling was not very popular and enforced like some countries (Germany) do because of its low disposal costs. But the recycling process for plastics is very long because they need to be cut up into tiny pieces and washed multiple times in order to be recycled and be used again. The reason why plastic needs to at least recycled rather than thrown away or burned is because Non biodegradable Plastic cannot decompose in the environment so therefore it should be recycled.…
