There are two types of media paid, and free. A good campaign is based primarily on free media. Free media is relatively inexpensive, but must not be taken for granted. As the campaign progresses, media goals will change. In the beginning it may be about getting my name out, and towards the end it will be about having maximum exposure as Election Day approaches. News releases are influential to the campaign. Determining when to release information could make or break a campaign. Coverage can be necessary to build my credibility, assisting in fundraising or for volunteer recruitment. I will use new releases to make public statements, announcing a major campaign event, or information regarding my campaign in any way that would be beneficial. I will be organizing many opportunities to speak to the public, including radio actualities, news conferences and media events. By far the best source of free media is television. Every available resource will be devoted to turning out my supporters to vote. The weeks leading up to Election Day is a curial time in the campaign. To remind prospective voters that Election Day is quickly approaching, one can send phone calls and post cards in advance to remind them to get out and vote on Election Day. In these reminders, it can state polling locations and hours of the polls. On Election Day, I will conduct a last minute campaign, making sure that I can get in contact with as many people as possible with the help of volunteers. A strategy to us the day of would be to send volunteers to polling locations with signs and handouts to try and sway undecided voters.
