Eleanor Roosevelt and Marian Anderson Many people have good characteristics and bad characteristics. In the historical article Eleanor Roosevelt and Marian Anderson, Eleanor Roosevelt helps Marian Anderson to perform in the Constitution Hall. However instead of performing there Marian Anderson performed at the Lincoln Memorial on Easter Sunday 1939. Eleanor Roosevelt showed many characteristics that she had, but the two characteristics that stood out were how helpful and brave she was. Everyone need help at some point, so Eleanor Roosevelt wanted to help Marian Anderson have one of her own concerts. For example, in the text it says ¨Fearing that she might upstage Anderson´s triumphant moment, Mrs. Roosevelt chose not to attend.¨ In order that Marian Anderson can have the spotlight on herself, Eleanor Roosevelt was helpful and she did not attend the performance. For example in the text it says ¨On February, 1939, Mrs. Roosevelt submitted her letter of resignation to the DAR president...¨ This shows that despite what the DAR could do Eleanor Roosevelt did not care, and she helped Marian Anderson to succeed for what she wanted. Also this piece of evidence shows that, Eleanor Roosevelt stands up for what she believes in not what other people want her to believe in. Another piece of evidence from the text is ¨The organizatipn had sey an example which seems to me unfortunate and the DAR had an opportunity to lead in an enlightened way but failed to do so. This piece of evidence shows how disappointed she is with the DAR, and that they could not have made a change instead of not letting Marian Anderson perform. This also shows how brave Eleanor Roosevelt was because so many people would disagree with her decision about helping support Marian Anderson.
