And while a number of things have been suggested to help students in these situations like on-or-near campus housing or shelters, ultimately it is not the school's responsibility to provide that.
And with that, many professors have let students stay in their office for months on end opening up a whole new conversation on how ethical that is to do if at all. Should professors continue to knowingly go against policy and allow these students to use their offices and other dorm and campus resources for personal care, or not?
Exactly how responsible are faculty for homeless students or students in general beyond delivering the curriculum? Should more be done by administration at these institutions and if so how much, or has it nothing to do with them? Questions like these arise constantly along with homeless rates in university and community institutions but almost nothing is ever done?
