Eldon Dedini was born in King City California June 29th 1921. His father was an Italian dairy farmer and a bookkeeper, while his mother was a schoolteacher. As a young boy, he found a love for comic books and began to subscribe to Esquire magazine. He sold his first cartoon to Esquire magazine at the age of 18. Continuing with his education Eldon Dedini graduated from Salinas Junior college and studied at the Chouinard Institute of Art. At Chouinard Institute Dedini met his wife Virginia Conroy. Searching cartoon works of Dedini’s and cartoons from the video there were three cartoons that grabbed my attention. The first cartoon was a black and white caricature of what you would assume is a husband and wife sitting on a loveseat in front of the television. She is sitting back with a cigarette in her fingers while he is holding the remote leaning forward appearing to surf the channels of the television. The gag line is, “Find something dumb. Really dumb. I’m in the mood.” The image was a funny depiction of a couple looking to relax, but the line provides the humor. Her with her laid-back position on the couch and the cigarette eludes to her trying to unwind. The spouse also seems to be looking to find something that provides entertainment at a casual downtime of the
